DARIEN, CT — The votes have been counted in Darien after residents hit the polls Tuesday to make their voices heard.
Democrats had a strong night throughout the state and country.
On Election Day, Gov. Ned Lamont, Democrat, received 646,742 votes, and his Republican challenger Ryan Fazio earned 454,488 with about 90 percent of the full vote total, unofficial results show.
U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (CT-4) was re-elected, along with his fellow Democratic colleagues Luke Bronin (CT-1), Joseph Courtney (CT-2), Rosa DeLauro (CT-3), and Jahana Hayes (CT-5).
Also winning re-election were Democrats Attorney General William Tong, Secretary of State Stephanie Thomas, Treasurer Erick Russell, and Comptroller Sean Scanlon, according to the Secretary of State's website.
Here is how Darien residents voted in the key races.
(Editor's Note: Some candidates were on the ballot multiple times, which is why you may see two or even three vote totals for a candidate. Also note that several candidates involved multiple towns, and the numbers below reflect Darien alone. Once full results are in for all towns in those races, we'll note the overall winner. Check back for more updates. These results are still unofficial as of now.)
The following are preliminary tabulator results from Darien Republican Registrar of Voters Cara Gately. Hand counts and write-ins still needed to be added at the time the results were received by Patch early Wednesday morning.
