DARIEN, CT — Guns and jewelry were reported missing from a Darien home last week following one of two residential burglaries on consecutive days, according to police.
Det. Sgt. Mauricio Vigil told Patch, "There is no evidence to indicate that the two burglaries are connected."
On Oct. 29 at approximately 12 p.m., police responded to a home on Raymond Street on a report of a burglary.
"The homeowner reported finding signs of forced entry and that items, including jewelry and firearms, were missing," police said.
Residents are being reminded to secure vacant properties by locking doors and windows and reporting suspicious activity.
The next day at approximately 9:20 p.m., police were called to a home on Mansfield Avenue on a report of a possible residential burglary.
"The caller reported discovering a broken glass panel in a rear-entry French door, consistent with forced entry," police said. "A subsequent walkthrough of the residence revealed multiple rooms had been rummaged through, and the resident reported that jewelry might be missing."
Police said both incidents remain active, and those with more information should contact Darien police.
