DARIEN, CT — "The Depot's Overstuffed Turkey Trot," billed as the town's biggest road race, will return Friday, Nov. 27, for its fourth annual event to benefit The Depot, Darien's youth center.
The event will begin with a 1-mile fun run and walk at 10 a.m., followed by a 5K run at 10:30 a.m. Both routes wind through the Darien High School Cross Country Trail.
The event will feature The Kenny Weiss Band, bagels from Mama Carmela's, coffee from NEAT Coffee, hummus and pita samples from NAYA and a hot cocoa bar for children.
The Depot's Student Governing Board will host the "Gobble Games," which return with free games and activities for children, including face painting, cornhole and minute-to-win-it contests.
Community members are invited to participate, cheer on runners or volunteer. Registration costs $50 from Nov. 2 through Nov. 26 and $55 on race day. Registration for children ages 6–12 is $30, and children 5 and under can participate for free.
"The Depot is thrilled to host its 4th annual Overstuffed Turkey Trot. Every year the race grows; however, it is more than just a race—it's a celebration of community," said The Depot Executive Director Amy Daniels in a news release. "Nothing brings people together like the holidays, and we're proud to host an event that supports youth programs while giving families a fun, healthy way to kick off their Thanksgiving weekend."
