The DAEG recently held a reception at Middlesex Middle School library for the 2011 recipients of grants from the Barbara Harrington Fund. The Barbara Harrington Fund was established in 1984 by DAEG in honor of Barbara Harrington, founder of Darien’s IDEA Program for gifted students. The Barbara Harrington fund supports courses of study that advance the education of all Darien students. The fund offers Darien teachers the opportunity to take innovative courses that enrich their ability to teach their curriculum. Special Fund awards are also available to all teachers, teacher aides, and parent volunteers to develop after-school enrichment programs. Dues and contributions from DAEG members provide the funds for our grants. The 2011 Barbara Harrington Grant Recipients are:
