“Paul Newman believed in sharing good fortune with those in need, which is what he did when he founded Newman’s Own in 1982. Since then, all profits from the sale of Newman’s Own products have been contributed to charity – now totaling more than $300 million. Newman’s Own Foundation is honored to continue the inspiring legacy that Paul created by supporting thousands of valuable organizations, like [Person-to-Person], that help make the world a better place.”
With the expression of that sentiment, and based upon the recommendation of two individuals at the foundation, P2P received two grants of $5,000 each from the Newman’s Own Foundation in support of the agency’s Emergency Assistance program.
“Living below the poverty level is a year-round struggle for our clients,” says P2P Director of Development Diane Reese Tucker. “Last year, 22,000 individuals came to us for assistance – including more than 5,300 people who had never needed our help before – and this year the need is just as great.”
