Another Car Break-in at Darien YMCA

Police are exploring whether it's related to a wave of burglaries that occurred recently at the Y.

Police are investigating after a woman said her backpack and cash was stolen out of her vehicle at the Darien YMCA.

Police responded to the parking lot on Sept. 17 shortly before 6 p.m.

The woman said she parked around 5 p.m. and returned around 6 p.m.

She said she locked her car, but there were no signs of forced entry.

A backpack with an envelope containing $42 was taken along with personal identification.

Police reviewed surveillance video and observed a vehicle park next to the victim’s vehicle. The suspect opened the victim’s front driver’s side door and took the backpack, police said.

Police are investigating whether it’s related to a string of YMCA burglaries that occurred in town recently.
