ATM Skimmer Installed in Darien: PD

DARIEN, CT — Police are investigating after an ATM skimmer was found installed at Darien Bank and Trust on the Post Road.

Skimming devices are able to gather card number data and potentially pin numbers as well.

The bank received a notification from a monitoring company that there was unusual activity at a New York standalone ATM and that two $500 withdrawals and a $400 withdrawal were related to Darien Bank and Trust.

Management checked their ATM and found a skimmer had been installed Feb. 11. A white 5'8'' male with a grey sweatshirt and black rimmed sunglasses went to the Darien Bank and Trust ATM and covered his face.

He went back the following day and police suspect his device may not have worked properly on the first attempt.
