Aug. 9 Primary In Darien: Here's What To Know

Darien will have a Republican and Democratic primary on Tuesday, Aug, 9.

DARIEN, CT — Darien will have a Democratic and Republican primary on Tuesday, Aug. 9 for all local voting districts in town.

Only those affiliated with the two major parties can vote — unaffiliated voters are not eligible. There is also no same-day registration in Connecticut for primaries.

According to First Selectman Monica McNally's most recent newsletter to the community, orange postcards with the most recent local district poll locations, state and federal district information, and the current elected official representation have already been sent townwide and received by voters.

Polling Hours

Polls will open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Voting will take place by the absentee ballot application and ballot process, available through the Town Clerk’s office, or in-person at Darien’s six poll locations. Signage will be placed at all poll locations, directing voters to their respective voting districts.

Polling Locations

  • District 1: Board of Education building, 35 Leroy Ave.
  • District 2: Temporarily relocated to the Mather Center at 2 Renshaw Road, accessible by the lower parking lot at Town Hall.
  • District 3: Noroton Heights Fire Department, 209 Noroton Ave.
  • District 4: Hindley School, 10 Nearwater Lane.
  • District 5: Temporarily relocated to the Mather Center at 2 Renshaw Road, accessible by the lower parking lot at Town Hall.
  • District 6: Moved to the Mather Center permanently as a result of the 2020 state redistricting.
