Darien took an early lead and won a home game Monday against Danbury despite a fifth inning rally by the visitors which briefly produced a tie.
After Danbury tied the game 3-3 in the fifth, Darien scored once more to bring the game to 4-3, which was where it ended up in the end.
Danbury Coach Shaun Ratchford praised Blue Wave pitcher Liam Naughton.
"He kept us off balance," Ratchford said. "We didn't figure him out till the fifth inning."
Darien Coach Mike Scott said Naughton also did well in holding off a seventh inning rally by the Hatters.
