Bear Shot And Killed By Homeowner After Attacking Goats
The homeowner called police in Connecticut to inform them that he shot at the bear.

WOLCOTT, CT — A man shot and killed a bear that was found attacking his goats around 1 a.m. on Catering Road in Wolcott, according to NBC Connecticut. The homeowner notified police that he had shot at the bear once he saw it attacking his goats.
The bear initially ran off into the woods but was later found dead, NBC Connecticut reports. The injured goat did survive. Wolcott Police said at 1:08 a.m. they received a call from a homeowner on Catering Road that he had just shot at a bear that was in his goat pen attacking his goats.
His wife had woken him after hearing a commotion in the goat pen, police said. The homeowner ran outside, heard the goat screaming and saw the bear attacking the goat, police said. The homeowner, in an effort to protect his livestock, shot a handgun in the direction of the bear, causing the bear to run into the woods, police said.

The homeowner said he was not sure if he did strike the bear or not, police said. The goat sustained severe injuries, and needed Vet care, police said.
"As a reminder, never let your domesticated pets outside all alone," Wolcott police said.
