Darien Beautification Commission Thanks Citizens For Donation Of Flags

On July 1, the Darien Board of Selectmen will consider a transfer of $5,000 originally put aside for the American flags.

DARIEN, CT — Three citizens recently donated American flags to the town to be displayed on downtown lampposts.

The Darien Beautification Commission wrote a letter earlier this month to David Hawes, of Compass; David Campbell, of Ring's End Lumber; and John Hertz, of Hollow Tree Self Storage, thanking them for the flags which were installed in time for Memorial Day.

"To have the flags flying from the town lampposts is not only beautiful but also serves to remind the town of the sacrifices so may have made for our freedom. We have received positive feedback and it is clear that your contribution to the town's appearance makes a significant difference," the commision wrote. "We look forward to the possibility of partnering with you again in future events and projects."
