Bicycles Thieves Hit Darien, Noroton Heights Train Stations: Cops

The thefts were reported on Sept. 11 and 12.

DARIEN, CT — Five bicycles were reported stolen from the Darien and Noroton Heights Train Stations on Sept. 11 and 12, all of which were locked at the time, according to police.

Four of the bikes were stolen from the Darien station, and one was taken from Noroton Heights. All were locked to racks.

The bikes were primarily owned by commuters who had left them at the stations early in the morning, only to return in the evening to find them gone.

In a couple of the cases, the bikes were locked with combination locks that were taken along with the bikes. In two other cases, the locks were cut and lying on the ground when the owners returned.

The most expensive bike reported stolen was a red Specialized valued at about $550. Darien police are investigating the thefts.
