Blight Board Approved in Darien
The town will now have some teeth to deal with blighted properties.

DARIEN, CT — The town's first Blight Review Board was appointed. The Board will have power to oversee cases where local homes fall into a dilapidated state.
So far there are about 15 complaints that have been made to the town Planning and Zoning offices, according to the Darien Times.
A blight review officer will issue a warning to owners of blighted properties and the case can be sent on to the Blight Review Board if no action is taken. Fines of up to $100 a day can eventually accrue. Special consideration can be made for disabled, low-income and elderly owners.
