Blue Wave Divers Undefeated After Four Meets

The following recap of the the Darien High School varsity girls diving team is by Claire Hunter:

Flip, twist and rip. The six athletes that make up the Darien High School varsity girls diving team bring
these terms to life each day in practice. This year’s squad, including five veteran juniors (Megan
Gianunzio, Emma Hunter, Kerry McDermott, Lana Schmidt and Julia Servas) and one freshman (Pai
Easterbrook), is off to a strong start this season. The talented group is currently undefeated after four
meets, scoring critical points for The Blue Wave.

As in every sport, the coach shares in the success and this team is no different. Yet, for DHS graduate
and All-American diver Kyle O’Donnell, the scores mean a little bit more when you are coaching at your
alma mater for the first time. “We have had a very good start to the beginning of the season. I have very
high hopes for the rest of the season along with our championship meets. I am very proud of these girls
and how they have progressed this year and look forward to the rest of the season.”

The DHS Varsity Girls Diving Team is currently competing at the New Canaan YMCA during home meets
(the diving board at the Darien YMCA is under repair). The local community is invited to cheer the divers
on in their final meets of the 2018 regular season.
