BMW Stolen From Darien Car Wash Recovered In NY: Police
A BMW was stolen from a Darien car wash on Nov. 11 by two masked men, according to police.

DARIEN, CT — A BMW that was stolen in broad daylight from a Darien car wash on Nov. 11 by two masked men was recovered the next day in New York City, according to police.
Police said they responded to a car wash on the Post Road in Darien at approximately 2:46 p.m. on Nov. 11 where they discovered that a 2024 BMW X5 was taken as it waited to be dried after completing its wash.
A victim reported to police that an unknown vehicle traveling eastbound on the Post Road stopped in front of the BMW and two men, both wearing ski masks, got out, entered the BMW and drove off, police said.

No weapons were displayed or mentioned during the theft.
A service from BMW tracked the car to Flushing in Queens, N.Y., where New York City Police Department officers located it parked and unoccupied with a misused NY marker plate, Darien police said.

During the recovery of the car, Justin Castillo, 19, tried to access it, police said, noting he was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.
Castillo was in possession of the BMW's key, police said. He was subsequently charged in New York with possession of stolen property.
Darien police Sgt. Mauricio Vigil told Patch an investigation is ongoing.
