Darien police said they saw the woman try to sell marijuana to a Stamford teenager.

Police acting on a tip arrested a Bridgeport woman Thursday on charges of selling marijuana on a side street in Darien.
Darien police gave this account (an accusation not proven in court) of the matter:
At 4:20 p.m., officers received information about a drug deal that was expected to take place near the intersection of Oak Crest and Mansfield Avenue.

About five minutes after police arrived and got ready, a 2006 Nissan Sentra drove onto Oak Crest and parked. A 19-year-old Stamford man went to the passenger side of the vehicle with $100 in his right hand, and the driver, Marcela Olivera-Lopez, 27, of Bridgeport, left the car and approached the teenager when she was arrested.
A strong odor of unsmoked marijuana was in the car, police said.

Olivera-Lopez told police she was in the process of selling “a quarter” of marijuana for $100 to the man. In the car, police saw a sandwich baggie containing a green, leafy substance on the front passenger seat and 14 small plastic bags with 20.5 grams of a green, leafy substance.
The Stamford 19-year-old told police he had bought marijuana from the woman in the past. He was not charged with a crime — police didn’t say why.
Olivera-Lopez, a resident of Harmony Street in Bridgeport, admitted to police that she had sold marijuana in the past. She did it in order to support herself and her 4-year-old daughter.
She was charged with sale of marijuana and possession of marijuana. She was later released on $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Jan. 19 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
