Car Battery, Catalytic Converter Thefts Reported In Darien: Police

Residents reported the thefts on the morning of June 14, according to the Darien Police Department.

DARIEN, CT — Valuable car parts were reported stolen in Darien last week, according to the Darien Police Department.

Police said they responded to the 700 block of the Post Road on a report of a stolen catalytic converter on June 14 at 9:40 a.m.

A reporting party told an officer that at around 9:30 a.m., she discovered the catalytic converter was cut from her vehicle, police said. While on-scene, another resident approached the officer and said her car battery was stolen from her vehicle.

The woman told police she found her car door and hood open that morning and noticed the battery was gone.

Catalytic converters contain valuable metals such as rhodium, palladium and platinum, which can be sold at high prices.
