Car Theft, 4 Car Burglaries Reported Recently In Darien: Police

Four of the incidents were reported on the same day, according to Darien police.

DARIEN, CT — Darien police said a car theft and four car burglaries were reported recently in town.

On Feb. 21, a woman reported her backpack was stolen from her vehicle on the Post Road between 5:20 p.m. and 6:04 p.m., according to police. The woman said she believed the car was locked.

On Feb. 24, a Fairfield Avenue resident reported that he woke up to notifications on his phone from his security camera. He checked the camera and saw two suspects trying to enter his vehicle, but the car was locked and the suspects were unable to gain entry, police said.

Later that morning, a nearby resident on Fairfield Avenue recounted a similar story in which he saw a suspect in dark clothing on his security camera try to enter one of his vehicles but the car was locked, police said. The suspect entered another vehicle, but nothing was reported missing.

Also on the morning of Feb. 24, a Holly Lane resident said he checked his Ring security camera footage and saw two men exit a vehicle parked on the street and try to open his two vehicles in the driveway, police said. Both vehicles were locked.

Shortly after 2 p.m. the same day, Darien police officers responded to a home on Fairfield Avenue on a report of a stolen vehicle.

A resident told police he was notified by his neighbor that his car, a 2013 Honda Civic, was parked at the end of Fairfield Avenue. The man said he had parked his car in the driveway the night before, police said. The car was unlocked with the keys inside.
