Catalytic Converter Cut From Vehicle Parked In Darien: Police

Police said the driver noticed the vehicle's exhaust was very loud when she started the car and realized a part was missing.

DARIEN, CT — A Darien resident discovered her vehicle's catalytic converter was stolen last week after starting the car and noticing how loud the exhaust was, according to police.

In a news release, Police Sgt. Dan Skoumbros said officers were called to the Ox Ridge School parking lot on Jan. 27 after receiving a report of stolen motor vehicle parts.

The owner of the vehicle told officers when she returned to her car the previous day around 3:30 p.m., she noticed the exhaust was very loud when she started the car, Skoumbros said.

When the owner returned home, she discovered the catalytic converter had been cut from the vehicle, Skoumbros said.
