Charges Against Former WCBS-TV Anchor Rob Morrison Reduced in Plea Agreement

The former Darien resident and CBS New York television anchor pleaded guilty to breach of peace Tuesday in Stamford.

Another very public chapter seems to have ended in the Darien domestic saga between Rob Morrison, formerly a CBS Channel 2 news anchor in New York City, and his wife, Ashley Morrison, a former CBS MoneyWatch anchor.

Rob Morrison, 46, agreed to a plea deal Tuesday in state Superior Court in Stamford in which a felony charge of violating a judge’s order of protection was dropped and Morrison pleaded guilty to breach of peace, according to a report in the Stamford Advocate and Darien News.

Morrison initially had been arrested by Darien police on Feb. 17, 2013 on charges of threatening and breach of peace in connection to a dispute with his wife. Charges in that case were dropped last April after he completed a 26-week course for those involved in family disputes. But he was under a judge’s order to have no contact with his wife.

In May 2014, Ashley Morrison told Darien police that her estranged husband had called her repeatedly. Police looking through his cell phone records counted 121 calls over the course of the 2014 Memorial Day weekend.

Morrison was arrested in June on the felony charge of violating the order and a charge of harassment. Tuesday’s plea agreement allows prosecutors to resurrect the felony charge should Morrison be charged with a crime in upcoming months.

Judge Erika Tindill accepted the plea. Morrison was not fined or charged any court costs. Morrison’s lawyer, Frank DiScala of Norwalk, negotiated the plea agreement with Assistant State’s Attorney Nancy Dolinsky.

Ashley Morrison, formerly of Hollow Tree Ridge Road in Darien (where the couple lived), is now a general assignment reporter for a television station in Miami. Rob Morrison was recently living in an apartment at 50 Forrest St. in downtown Stamford.

Correction: Darien police counted the 121 calls from Rob Morrison to his wife over Memorial Day weekend, his wife didn’t report that number to police, as originally stated in this article.
