Christ Community Church In Darien To Celebrate 10th Anniversary Of Merger

DARIEN, CT — Christ Community Church will mark the 10th anniversary of the merger between Calvary Baptist Church and Encounter Church with a service at 10 a.m. Oct. 18 at 988 Post Road, followed immediately by a church-wide celebration.

The event will bring together members, former congregants and the broader community to reflect on the church’s history and plans for the future. The church will also recognize its 2024 merger with Living Hope Church of Stamford.

Christ Community Church was formed in 2016 after years of partnership, prayer and shared ministry efforts between Calvary Baptist Church and Encounter Church. Over the past decade, the church has expanded its ministries, local and global outreach efforts and community presence, emphasizing unity across generations and backgrounds through Christ-centered ministry.

"As we reflect on the last 10 years, we’re incredibly grateful for the ways God has guided and sustained our church through every season," said lead pastor of Christ Community Church Landon Reesor in an announcement. "What has always mattered most to us is creating a church community where people feel welcomed, supported and encouraged in their faith journey. These mergers were never simply about combining organizations — they were about following where we believed God was leading us and strengthening our ability to serve others together."

According to the church, the 2024 merger with Living Hope Church expanded ministry opportunities and outreach throughout the region.

"We’ve seen firsthand how much can happen when churches come together with a shared mission rooted in faith," Reesor added. "Our heart has always been to honor God by serving both our local community and our global mission well, and we believe these partnerships have allowed us to do that in a deeper and more impactful way."

Christ Community Church serves individuals and families throughout Fairfield County through worship services, children and student ministries, local outreach initiatives, global missions work and community programs based at its Darien campus.

"This anniversary is really about celebrating God’s faithfulness and the people who have helped shape this church over the years," Reesor said. "We’re excited about where God is leading us next and look forward to continuing to serve our community and world with compassion, authenticity and the hope of the Gospel."
