Cocaine Found In SUV Of Stamford Man In Darien DUI Arrest: Police

The incident occurred early Sunday on Hoyt Street near Lynn Court.

DARIEN, CT — A 32-year-old Stamford man, who Darien police pulled over for alleged erratic driving early Sunday, was found to be in possession of a baggie containing cocaine, according to officials.

Giovani Gilmar Medina-Flores, of Mulburry Street, was pulled over on Hoyt Street near Lynn Court at about 2 a.m., after an officer saw his vehicle swerving over the double-yellow while traveling north on Hoyt.

"The Officer smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle," wrote Darien police in a statement. "When asked, the operator admitted to having a couple of 'drinks.' The Officer remarked that Medina-Flores’ eyes were glassy and bloodshot. Medina-Flores submitted to roadside standardized sobriety field-testing, which he failed to perform to standard."

Police found the small baggie of cocaine, which the department tested to determine what it was, under the driver's seat of the vehicle.

"At headquarters, Medina-Flores submitted to breathalyzer testing," added police. "The first test was taken at [2:59 a.m.], with a BAC of .1117. The second test was taken at [3:18 a.m.], with a BAC of .1113."

Medina-Flores was charged with possession of narcotics and operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol. He was released after posting a $369 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 25.
