DARIEN, CT — A 45-year-old New Canaan man was arrested on a warrant by Darien police over the weekend, accused of bilking a Darien homeowner out of $650,000 in home renovation work he never completed.

Thomas E. Faucher, of Brinkerhoff Avenue, surrendered to police and was charged with multiple counts of failure to provide cancellations in connection with the lack of finished work at the Mansfield Avenue home.

The situation began in May 2018 when the homeowner paid Faucher a large sum of money for the undisclosed renovations.

"In October of 2018, the work began to slow, and Faucher informed the complainants that he needed more money to continue, which they complied with," stated Darien police. "After the second payment and having paid Faucher a total of $650,000, no more work was done and the project was not completed. The complainant made contact with the subcontractors, who informed them that Faucher had stopped paying them. The complainant paid the subcontractors directly in order to have the project finished."

The homeowner contacted Darien police in April of this year, at which time authorities obtained the warrant for Faucher's arrest.
