Coronavirus Darien: Selectmen Meeting Streamed; Town Hall Closed

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Board of Selectmen meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, March 23, will be streamed live online, but the public can not attend, following orders issued by Gov. Ned Lamont addressing the COVID-19 crisis.

The meeting can be viewed online at http://www.darienct.gov/content/28025/30216/default.aspx.

"Members of the public wishing to comment on an agenda item should e-mail their comments to
kbuch@darienct.gov no later than 4 pm March 23, 2020," officials said. "We thank you for your understanding in these challenging times."

Additionally, Darien Town Hall is closed to the public, beginning Monday, but town employees will continue to serve the public via phone, email of other means, according to First Selectman Jayme Stevenson.

As of Saturday, there were seven confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Darien, Stevenson said, 140 cases in Fairfield County and more than 220 in the state.

"Due to continuing concerns about the spread of COVID-19, the Town of Darien is taking proactive
measures to protect its employees and residents, while continuing to serve the public," Stevenson said in a statement. "Effective Monday, March 23rd, the Town Hall will be closed to the public. Employees will continue to serve the public through alternate means. We request that our residents and customers who need to conduct business with the Town contact individual departments as needed. You will be assisted in how to best conduct business either online at www.darienct.gov , via e-mail or by phone. We thank you for your cooperation in these challenging times.
