Darien Applies for 8-30g Housing Moratorium
The statute allows developers to circumvent certain local zoning laws when building affordable housing if certain requirements are met.

DARIEN, CT—The town has submitted another application for a moratorium on the state's 8-30g statute.
The statute allows developers to circumvent certain local zoning laws when building affordable housing if that town has less than 10 percent of their housing units designated as affordable.
Darien needs 141 housing equivalency points to qualify, according to the Darien Times. It would be the town's second moratorium, with the first one expiring in October 2014.
