Darien Arts Center Fall Registration Now Open

Registration is now open for more than seventy-five fall classes at the Darien Arts Center. Offerings include dance, visual arts, martial arts and music for all ages. Most classes begin on September 8. Ongoing classes for adults include ballet, tap, pilates, watercolor painting and martial arts. New classes include a vocal workshop for ages 7-12, Vocal Divas! Dance:

Dance Beginnings - ages 3 & 4, Sept. 8-Jan. 16, for preschoolers to learn about dance and the joy of movement through body awareness and creativity. $280, $25 registration fee.

Pre-Ballet - ages 4 &5, Sept. 8-Jan. 16, a fun introduction to ballet using imaginative techniques to learn classical elements including floor and center work. $280, $25 registration fee.

Jazz/Hip Hop 1 - Grades 1 & 2, Sept. 8-Jan. 16, jazz technique and the latest hip hop moves. $280, $25 registration fee.

Martial Arts - all ages, Sept. 8-Jan. 16, designed to develop skills, coordination, self-defense and awareness. $280, $30 uniform fee, $25 registration fee.

Visual Arts:

Elementary Art Studio - ages 7-12, Wed., 3:40-4:40pm, Sept. 30-Jan. 20, experiment with line, color, texture, form and a variety of media: pastels, watercolors, acrylics and ink. $280, $25 registration fee.

Acrylic Painting - ages 10-15, Wed., 6:30-8pm, Oct. 7-Dec. 16, for those who wish to expand their art experience to learn about paint application, composition, design, perspective and symbolism. Work from imagination and observation. $330, $25 Registration fee.

Click! - ages 9-12, Fri., 4:40-5:40pm, Oct. 2-Jan. 22, Use a digital camera, iPhone or iPod to take photos using basics like the rule of thirds, filling the frame, and negative space. Color, texture and scales will also be discussed. $280, $25 registration fee.

Pizza and Painting - ages 8 and up with parent, Fri. Sept. 18, 6-8:30pm, eat pizza, discuss art of The Masters, and then have fun experimenting with techniques: splatter like Jackson Pollack, swirl like Van Gogh or interpret nature like Monet. $40 per person, no registration fee.

Music:

Vocal Divas! - ages 7-12, a new six-week workshop in vocal performance that focuses on classic pop and rock n’ roll styles. The works of popular current singers including Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Christina Perri and others will be explored. The first session of this workshop will run on Tuesdays, Sept. 8-Oct. 13, from 4:30- 6:00pm.

Ballet, Tap, Pilates and Martial Arts - $25 drop-in fee, 10-class card for $185, one-time annual $25 registration fee.

Watercolor Painting - Mon., 9:30-12:30pm, Oct. 5-Dec. 14, all levels of ability. $385, $25 registration fee.
