The DAC has hired professional ballet dancer Claire Mazza as Dance Director and part of an expansion to their dance program, which is now offering over 50 classes and will take place in the newly renovated DAC Weatherstone Studio this fall. Mazza joins the popular dance program which offers ages 3 through adults, the opportunity to train in one of the finest dance spaces in Fairfield County and to participate in multiple performances throughout the year.

An accomplished professional dancer, Mazza has been seen dancing in television productions such as Kings, Royal Pains, and Elementary and has been teaching dance to students ages three to eighteen for the past ten years. In 2019, Claire co-founded East Coast Contemporary Ballet, a non-profit organization.

The DAC has also added professional dancer Claire St. John and international freelance artist and co-director of East Coast Contemporary Ballet, Alejandro Ulloa to their dance faculty. Ulloa was awarded the “Artist of International Projection of the Year'' by the Nicaraguan Artist Association and in 2019, co-founded East Coast Contemporary Ballet. Claire St. John’s training has encompassed many varieties of dance with a focus in classical ballet and performed in The Great Russian Nutcracker with Moscow Ballet for 3 consecutive seasons, and in Giselle with L’Etoile Russian Ballet Academy alongside ABT soloists Veronika Part and Vitali Krauchenka.

It is strongly suggested not to wait to register as classes fill quickly. The Darien Arts Center is located at 2 Renshaw Road, behind the Town Hall. Call (203) 655-8683 for more information. Email DAC Dance Director Claire Mazza for dance questions at claire@darienarts.org.
