Darien Arts Center Summer Program Calendar

The DAC offers educational programs in Dance, Visual Arts, Music & Theatre, & special events & live theatre performances by DAC Stage. Private donations, grants, tuition fees & ticket sales fund the DAC, which is located at 2 Renshaw Road, behind the Town Hall. Pre-school Art, Music and Dance Camp – ages 3-5, Tues & Thurs, 10 am – 2pm, weekly sessions from June 9 through Aug 4, one session $200, multiple sessions discounted, $25 registration fee.

Let’s Put on a Show! Art, Dance and Theatre Camp – grades 1-4, Mon, Wed Fri, 10am-2pm, July 6-31, $500, $25 registration fee.

Dance:

Summer Dance – ages 8-14, Mon-Fri, 2-4:30pm, July 6-17. Jazz, modern, and ballet choreography and compositions, make-up and costuming. $250, $25 registration fee.

Ballet Intensive/Pointe – by permission, Mon-Fri, 2-4:30. July 20-Aug 7, for intermediate and advanced students, includes pointe work. $375, $25 registration fee.

Choreography - Intermediate and advanced, Wed 6-7:15pm, June 17-Aug 19, each class will focus on a different style of dance. $160 full session or $20 per class, $25 registration fee.

Martial Arts: ages 4-12, Tues 4:45-5:45pm, June 16-Aug 18, $165, $30 uniform fee, $25 registration fee.

Music:

Private Instruction in Piano, Guitar, Violin, Drum Set, or Composition - 30 min for $44, 45 min for $66 or 1 hour lessons for $88, $25 annual registration fee, June 16-Aug 22

Duo Piano Workshop – all ages, 45 min lessons available Mon-Fri in July, $25 per lesson, $25 registration fee.

Mommy, Music and Me I – birth-2 yrs., Wed, 10:45-11:30am, June 10-July 29, fine and large motor skills, parents or caregivers participate in the fun! $168, $25 registration fee.

Mommy, Music and Me I – ages 2-4, Wed, 9:45-10:30am, June 10-July 29, utilizing more motor skills, parents or caregivers participate in the fun! $168, $25 registration fee.

Music Composition I – Grades 2-3, Mon-Fri, 5-6pm, July 16-24, writing, recording and performing one’s own music, $193, $25 registration fee.

Music Composition II – Grades 4-7, Mon-Fri, 5-6pm, July 7-15, writing, recording and performing one’s own music, $193, $25 registration fee.

Group Music Theory – Grades 4-12, Mon and Wed, 7-8:15pm, July 6-29, prepares student for entrance into more advanced theory courses. $240, $25 book fee, $25 registration fee.

Visual Arts:

The Big Top –ages 7-12, Mon-Thurs, 2:30-4:30pm, June 22-25, create art projects with a circus theme, wire sculptures, painting, and clowning! $160, $25 registration fee.

Blast Off! – ages 7-11, Mon-Thurs, 2:30-4:30pm, July 6-9, create alien and rocket ship themed projects, create space sabers and learn fight choreography. $160, $25 Registration fee.

Innovate and Invent- ages 7-11, Mon-Thurs, 2:30-4:30pm, July 13-16, use repurposed materials to create fantasy inventions, make paint and dyes with natural materials. $160, $25 registration fee.

Supper and Sculpture – ages 8 and up with parent, Wed July 29, 6-8:30pm, discuss sculpture, shape and form, create family projects to take home. No repeat projects. $40 per person, no registration fee.
