Darien-based Toy Company Reports $55k of Credit Card Fraud

Tegu reported more than $55,000 in credit card fraud to police. The company sells toys online.

A Darien-based toy company reported credit card fraud totaling more than $55,000.

Tegu employees noticed several orders were being sent to various addresses in Montreal, Canada, police said. The company sells children’s toys over the Internet.

Tegu IT staff looked into it and found purchases were being made with stolen cards. The total purchased was $55,637.73. Of that $38,560 was delivered and considered stolen. The remainder of the order was cancelled.

The company notified Darien Police on June 17.

Montreal Police are also looking into the case.
