Darien Beaches Closed For Swimming, Town Says

"This action is being taken to help protect public health, in accordance with health and safety protocols," the town said.

DARIEN, CT — Both public beaches in Darien are temporarily closed for swimming due to heavy rainfall, according to an announcement from the town.

The precautionary closures were put in place after Darien experienced 1.5 inches of rain within the past 24 hours.

"This action is being taken to help protect public health, in accordance with health and safety protocols," the town said.

The closure will remain in effect for a minimum of 24 hours. The beaches are expected to reopen on Wednesday after two tidal rinses.
