Darien Bicyclist Arrested After Trespassing in Tokeneke Section of Town: Police
The man allegedly gave a constable the runaround and then tried to flee.

A bicyclist who was allegedly trespassing in the Tokeneke section of town was arrested after he allegedly gave a constable the runaround and attempted to flee, police said.
A Tokeneke constable was on patrol the night of July 23 and noticed a man in bicycling gear riding southbound on Cross Road, police said.
The constable yelled for the bicyclist to stop, but the bicyclist kept peddling away. Eventually the constable got in front of the bicyclist and said he was in a private area that was posted no trespassing.

The 54-year-old Darien man said he was a member of the Tokeneke beach club and said his name was John Smith, according to police. He said he didn’t have a phone or ID on him.
He also said he wasn’t going to put up with the constable and peddled away as the constable was checking on his membership status. Again the constable caught up with him and at one point had to put his hands on the biker’s handlebars as he pedaled toward him.

Eventually the man gave him real name and showed his license that he had on him the whole time. He wasn’t a member of the beach club
He was charged with third-degree trespassing and interfering with police.
