Darien Blanks Fairfield 10-0 in Babe Ruth State Tourney

Coming off is first district championship in 42 years, the Darien 13-year-old Babe Ruth team opened play in the state tournament Saturday with a 10-0 victory over Fairfield.

Andrew Enzor had a single, triple and four RBI for Darien, which takes on host Ridgefield in the winner's bracket semifinals on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ciuccoli Field.

Saturday's contest was stopped after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Tyler Costantino tossed five scoreless innings for Darien, allowing only two hits while striking out four.

Jake Frasca and Brian Walsh each had two hits and an RBI for Darien while Enzo Stefanoni and Stephen Barston contributed one hit apiece.

As the tournament host, Ridgefield played the opening game on Friday and defeated New London, 7-5.
