Darien Board Of Finance Approves $191.9 Million Town Budget
The Representative Town Meeting will now consider the proposed spending plan.

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Board of Finance this week unanimously approved a $191.9 million town budget, sending the spending plan off to the Representative Town Meeting for final adoption.

The total Board of Selectmen budget weighs in at $61,781,903, and the Board of Education budget is $130,179,922.

Overall, the proposed town budget represents a 4.24 percent increase over the current fiscal year budget of $184,153,900.
The Board of Education budget features a capital request of $1.9 million, and includes several notable projects, including $500,000 to resurface the blacktop at the oval and stadium parking lot.

Also included is 383,400 for Royle Elementary School to replace the school radio, add bollards to the picnic area, resurface the blacktop for the school entrance and parking lot, and replace the gymnasium floor.
Hindley will get $345,600 for the same work, and Holmes will get $278,000 for radio replacement, bollards for the main entrance, and blacktop resurfacing.
The RTM will vote on the proposed budget on May 11. The legislative body can make reductions.
