Darien Chamber Announces Festival O’ Wreaths 2.0

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Chamber of Commerce and Darien Nature Center, in a shop local effort this holiday season, is bringing back a spin on the famous and beloved, "Festival of Wreaths."

Unique and locally handmade wreaths will be displayed for auction in participating Darien stores from Nov. 25 to Dec. 21. The proceeds will benefit The Darien Chamber Charitable Foundation and the Darien Nature Center.

The chamber has invited local artists, artisans and community friends to make decorative wreaths to encourage shopping local and raise funds for two charities. Town residents, Jane Glassmeyer and Holly Galper are making a dog themed wreath, "May your Days be Hairy & Bright," to be hung at Get Joy.

Missy Radin is making a hand painted wreath that will be personalized for the winner to go up at the Darien Sport Shop. Anne Baurmeister crafted, “Espresso Self” to be displayed at NEAT, and there is a crayon-themed wreath going up at the Darien Toy Box called, "ABC 123."

Sipstirs has a booze-themed wreath made by Sara Murphy, and Aquarius is hanging a wreath named, "Then peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars," from the song "Aquarius" made by Pam Huber.

“In total we collected 26 one-of-a-kind wreaths for our local stores with the hopes people will stroll n’ shop checking out all the stores, what they have to offer this holiday season and the wreaths," said Kesti Aysseh, executive director of the Darien Chamber, in a news release.

Residents can place bids — winners will be able to bring their wreath home in time for the holidays. To preview the wreaths and locations, visit the Darien Chamber website or the town app, Live Darien CT.

Bidding will end promptly at 2 p.m. on Dec. 21. Bidding can only take place in the stores.
