Darien Coronavirus: PD Discourages Fingerprinting Requests

DARIEN, CT — With the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) reaching a pandemic level, the Darien Police Department is "strongly discouraging" residents from coming to the station for fingerprinting services, officials announced.

For a fee, the department offers fingerprinting services to residents who sometimes need them for employment purposes.

"In an effort to limit close quarter contact between our staff and residents during the COVID-19 threat, the Darien Police Department is strongly discouraging residents from seeking civilian (non-criminal) fingerprinting at this time," officials wrote in a statement. "If fingerprinting is absolutely necessary, please contact the Darien Police Detective Division at 203-662-5330."

As of Thursday, Connecticut had six confirmed cases of COVID-19. Nearly 100 people have been tested, but the vast majority have tested negative.

On Wednesday, the Darien School District closed schools for two weeks to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Additionally, the Darien Police Department has temporarily suspended its Child Safety Seat Installation service until further notice.
