First Selectman Jayme Stevenson made the announcement in a video on Sunday.

DARIEN, CT — A Darien resident died over the weekend of complications from the new coronavirus (COVID-19), the town's first virus-related death, announced First Selectman Jayme Stevenson.

Details of the patient were not disclosed, but in a Facebook video to the town, Stevenson offered her condolences to the person's family.

"This isn't just a data point, it's a member of our community, and we're very, very sad," Stevenson said, adding that the victim was close to the age of her and her husband. "So please extend your prayers to this family."
