Darien Coronavirus Updates: 44 Confirmed Cases

The town also is looking for volunteers to help elderly and quarantined residents with food shopping and deliveries.

DARIEN, CT — Forty-four confirmed cases of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been reported in Darien as of Monday, according to state health officials.

In Fairfield County, the number of cases went from 1,245 to 1,445 on Monday, representing more than half of the cases in Connecticut. Statewide, deaths reached 36, 21 of whom were from Fairfield County, officials said.

New Canaan, which reported its fourth coronavirus-related death on Monday, has 42 cases, and Norwalk leads the state with 271.

In Darien, a survivor of the virus, Kristina Gregory, 51, told the Darien Times that the symptoms were agonizing, but she does not know where or how she contracted the illness.

Gregory is preparing to donate antibodies to help in the fight against COVID-19, and she urges people to take the virus seriously.
