Darien Cracks Top 5 In Final Field Hockey Coaches Poll

The Blue Wave won the FCIAC tournament, then advanced to the Class L semifinals in 2018.

DARIEN, CT — Despite being eliminated in the Class L semifinals, an FCIAC tournament championship helped propel Darien High School to fifth among voters in the final field hockey coaches poll for 2018.

The Blue Wave handed eventual Class L champion Staples its only loss of the season in the finals of the FCIAC tournament.

Staples was first in the balloting, receiving all eight first-place votes, while Class S champion Immaculate was second, Class L runner-up Cheshire was third and Class M titlist Guilford wound up fourth.
