Darien Director Of Health To Retire

The town will begin the process of looking for a new director in 2024.

DARIEN, CT — David Knauf, Darien's longtime director of health, will retire after around 15 years of service at the conclusion of the current fiscal year.

Town Administrator Kate Buch mentioned Knauf's impending retirement during Monday night's regularly scheduled board of selectmen meeting.

"We will begin the search process for a new replacement no later than March. We'll start talk about how we're going to go about doing that in the next couple of months.," Buch said.

First Selectman Jon Zagrodzky praised Knauf for his service to the town.

"He's retiring after committing himself to the town and helping us in this very important capacity. I wish him well in his retirement. I know he's going to help us with the transition to a new leadership for all that, and I look forward to meeting and talking with him about that," Zagrodzky said. "I can speak for everyone, we're certainly appreciative of his service to the town, and wish him well as he begins whatever his next chapter is."
