Darien Elementary School Students Report Suspicious Vehicle

DARIEN, CT- Two Holmes Elementary School students reported a suspicious encounter to police April 5.

The two girls, ages 10 and 9-year-old were walking home from school around 3:49 p.m. when a vehicle stopped on Philips Lane near them.

A passenger leaned out of the black Subaru and asked, "Hey ladies did you just get out of school," according to police. The vehicle had a Massachusetts license plate.

The vehicle occupants didn't try to open car doors and there was no motion or gesture to entice them to come into the vehicle, police said.

The passenger was described as a white male with wavy blonde hair. The operator was a white male wearing a grey shirt. Both were smoking cigarettes and listening to loud rap music.

Both the girls ran across the street and to a crossing guard who contacted police. The vehicle continued onto Christie Hill Road at a high rate of speed.

The girls told police that no one was around when the encounter happened. Police conducted a neighborhood canvas and turned up nothing. No other agencies have reported similar incidents or observed the vehicle.
