Darien Estate Burglarized
A home that had recently entered estate status was burglarized, but oddly enough some valuable items were left behind.

DARIEN, CT- Police are investigating an odd burglary where only a silver tea set was reportedly stolen.
A residence on Blueberry Lane recently entered into estate status after the residents passed away. The home was checked by the estate executor and a friend regularly since April 30.
One of the caretakers arrived on May 9 around noon to find the home burglarized, police said.

The house was last checked on May 6.
A slider to a master bedroom was closed, but left unlocked. Drawers were left opened and a safe was opened in one bedroom. The only sign of forced entry was a locked kitchen closet that had apparently been pryed open. A green file box that contained documents was found outside the closet.

A sterling silver tea set in the dining room was reported stolen. Numerous items of value including jewelry and computers were left alone.
Locks were changed about two months ago and it is possible a live-in home health aide had a key, but the executor wasn't sure, police said.
