Darien Football's 12th Man Jim Mulhearn Passed Away

Darien High School football's number one fan Jim Mulhearn passed away Saturday.

Darien High School football super fan Jim Mulhearn, 68, passed away Saturday night.

Mulhearn attended almost every football game this past season. He shared his knowledge of football with the team.

Mulhearn, who has ALS took the Ice Bucket Challenge last summer.

“Jim was an inspiration to us all, players, coaches and fans,” said Head Coach Rob Trifone in a statement. “He suffered from a terrible disease but never once complained about it and became our biggest supporter. He loved football, and sports of all kind.”

Mulhearn became a fan through Trifone. They met at Roton Point where Mulhearn and wife Ellen are members and Trifone runs the aquatic program, according to Blue Wave Football.
