Darien Girls Lacrosse Team Moves Up In USA Lacrosse's National Top 25 Rankings

The Darien High School varsity girls lacrosse team is off to a scorching start this season.

DARIEN, CT — The Darien High School girls lacrosse team is off to a hot start this season, and they're now moving up USA Lacrosse's national rankings.

The Blue Wave is now ranked No. 2 on the USA Lacrosse Top 25 list for April 14. The only other Connecticut team on the list is Sacred Heart Greenwich at No. 15.

Previously ranked fourth in the national Top 25, the Blue Wave ousted then-No. 1 St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) in a double-overtime thriller, 10-9, on April 8. St. Anthony's had won 51 straight games.

The Blue Wave is now 5-0 on the season, having defeated Chatham High School (NY) by a score of 10-6 in the season opener on April 4.

They followed that performance up with the double OT win against St. Anthony's, an 11-6 victory over Rye High School (NY) on April 11, a 21-1 win against Trumbull on April 13, and a 10-9 win against Garden City High School (NY) on April 14.

The team is also now ranked No. 1 on the USA Lacrosse Northeast Top 10 list.

The Blue Wave was scheduled to play at Wilton on Thursday afternoon.
