Darien Great Island Committee To Discuss Parking Design, Accessibility And Infrastructure

DARIEN, CT — The Great Island Parking Design Committee is scheduled on Thursday to discuss circulation, accessibility and infrastructure planning tied to parking improvements at Great Island.

A special meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, at 6 p.m. in Room 206 at Darien Town Hall.

A major portion of the committee’s special meeting agenda centers on a presentation and design discussion with landscape architecture firm Reed Hilderbrand.

Under circulation and accessibility, the committee is expected to discuss technical criteria, existing site constraints and a connection to 23A - the access road to Great Island - along with discussion of circle design concepts.

Under materials and details, topics are expected to include boardwalk materials, wheel stops, parking paving, gates and bike racks.

Recommended tree removals for the project are also expected to be presented, as well as the next steps.

Public comment is listed near the start of the meeting agenda, and members of the public may speak for up to three minutes in person during the designated comment period.
