Darien Has More Stolen Cars Than Neighboring Towns

Police remind residents to lock their vehicles and keep the keys out of them when not in use.

DARIEN, CT—Darien by far had the most reports of stolen vehicles in similar-sized nearby towns.

From 2015 to mid-September 2016 Darien had 34 reports of stolen vehicles while New Canaan and Wilton had four each, according to the Darien Times.

Meanwhile Stamford had 290 stolen vehicle reports and Norwalk 180.

Darien has had several incidents at car dealerships over the years including a June 2015 incident where four men broke into the Range Rover Dealership.

Police spokesman Sgt. Jeremiah Marron estimates that 75 percent of stolen vehicles are of vehicles that are unlocked with the keys inside.
