Results will be explained in detail, and members of the public are invited to attend and speak.

DARIEN, CT — Darien has completed a drainage study in the Salt Box Lane area, and will hold a public informational meeting at Town Hall on May 11 at 7 p.m.
The drainage study area included Seagate Road; Post Road (near Seagate and Salt Box Lane); Salt Box Lane; Salt Box Lane East; Coachlamp Lane; Thomasina Lane; and Pleasant Street.
The purpose of the study, which was performed by Tighe & Bond, was to make recommendations to the town for necessary actions to address flooding in the neighborhood, promoting access and resiliency for future storm events.

Tighe & Bond's analysis indicates that the existing drainage system is undersized for the area that it serves, and begins to overtop in events as small as the five-year event, with flooding and intersections impacted progressively becoming worse as precipitation increases in intensity.
Four options were evaluated, according to an executive summary of the study. Three options included upgrading the pipe sizes mostly along their existing alignments, evaluating the 25, 50 and 100-year events. A fourth option evaluated rerouting the eastern portion of the drainage system.
