Darien To Hold Veterans Day Ceremony This Week

DARIEN, CT — The town will host a Veterans Day ceremony Thursday in the Veterans' Circle in front of Town Hall.

Terry Gaffney, chair of the town's Monuments and Ceremonies Commission, said in a news release the ceremony will start at 10:40 a.m. and end at 11:11 a.m.

Members of Darien's VFW Post 6933 will perform the ceremonial flag raising, and members of the public will participate in readings to mark the 103rd anniversary of the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front, bringing World War I to a halt.

Gaffney said the public is encouraged to participate in Thursday's event.
