The Board of Education has been spearheading the effort, with the help of parents, teachers, coaches, mental health experts and others.

DARIEN, CT — The Board of Education has been spearheading an effort over the past year to update what it called the district's "commitment policy" with new requirements for Darien High School students, reports the Darien Times.

Among the changes, students will be required to complete a drug and alcohol resistance workshop at least once per year before they participate in extracurricular activities.

The Darien Board of Education has been working on the revamped policies for a year with the help of parents, teachers, mental health experts, coaches and others.
