DARIEN, CT — A 27-year-old Patterson, NJ man was arrested on a warrant charging him with first-degree child pornography after police found an obscene video on his cell phone as part of a Darien mail theft investigation, according to authorities.

Carlos Artiles and two other men were arrested by Darien police in January in connection with the theft of mail from the Darien Post Office on Corbin Drive, and as a result, police obtained a warrant to search his cell phone for possible evidence related to that crime.

"During the forensic examination of Artiles' phone, detectives located a 30 second video of what appeared to be a minor involved in a sexual act," said Darien Police Detective James Palmieri in a statement. "Detectives determined that Artiles had received the video from an unknown third party and was not involved in its creation."
