Darien Man Accused Of Breaking Into Vehicles: PD

He was caught on March 24.

DARIEN, CT — A 20-year-old Darien man was arrested on multiple counts of third-degree burglary and one count of sixth-degree larceny late Saturday night after he allegedly broke into several vehicles in the Holmes Avenue area, according to Darien police.

Christopher Gandini, of West Avenue, was apprehended behind his home at about 11:30 p.m.

A witness had spotted a man - later identified as Gandini - inside a vehicle in front of her home on Holmes Avenue, and yelled at the man that she was calling the police.

Officers soon found Gandini on nearby West Avenue and asked him several times to show his hands, which he wouldn't do, police said.

"Based on his non-compliance, he was immediately detained and placed in handcuffs," wrote police. "Discovered on his person was a plastic 'ziplock' type baggie containing loose change. Gandini was questioned, and ultimately admitted to taking money from a vehicle on Holmes Avenue."

Officers discovered that Gandini had allegedly broken into four vehicles on Holmes Avenue, rifling through the glove compartments and center consoles.

He was released after posting a $1,500 and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on April 4.
